Biathlon: Elvira Öberg got nothing right: “The body goes in every direction except forward”

With two barriers, it was a perfectly okay shooting, but the riding did not work in the loose and muddy tracks in the old Olympic location from 2002. In pure riding time, Öberg was 1.42 behind Anamarija Lampic, who was the fastest.

– I haven’t gotten out what I have in my body. I’m getting nowhere it feels like and I was digging myself all the time. I can’t handle it and it became “damage control”. The body goes in all directions except forward. It is very frustrating. With the technology I have today, it doesn’t work, says Öberg, who complained about the last barrier standing still.

– It was one boom too many, too bad the boom is standing still. It’s sad, says Öberg, who at full shooting would have been far behind anyway.

Hanna Öberg made a comeback after illness

Hanna Öberg made a comeback after illness where she missed Oslo’s World Cup competition last weekend.

– It was tough, I had no power in my upper body. As soon as you tried to push, you disappeared into the loose snow. But now I’m up and running. This was probably the toughest competition you could come back to, says Hanna Öberg.

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet had the second fastest ride time and with just one barrier she won the race ahead of World Cup leader Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold.

– It was hell with the spring snow at the high altitude. I had to fight very hard but the dykes had done a very good job and I have to thank them, says Braisaz-Bouchet.
