Why has Hanna Öberg been forced to give up the dream? In the video above, the Swede tells how she shifted her focus after the difficult time.
In the season’s opening four individual World Cup races, a 13th place was Hanna Öberg’s best record. And in the latest, the sprint in Hochfilzen, she finished 66th. After the less flattering placement, Öberg chose to go home and train instead of participating in the World Cup in Le Grand Bornand.
– I don’t understand why it has looked like this. Sometimes it’s just like that. This break she took is all about breaking patterns, you only make a small change to psychologically break a trend. Then you are on a new journey, says SVT Sports expert Björn Ferry.
What do you think of her chances?
– I don’t think she’s in super duper shape, but should reasonably be better now.
“Elvira’s chances are great”
Hanna Öberg’s sister, Elvira, is second overall in the World Cup. She has 371 points, leader Franziska Preuss has 565 when around half of the season is completed.
– Elvira’s chances of winning are great. Everything is going her way when it comes to her worst competitors. Lisa Vitozzi breaks the season, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold undergoes heart surgery. I don’t see Preuss being healthy as a nut for the rest of the season. It is enough for Preuss to make a bad sprint and it will turn around, says Ferry.
This afternoon, SVT broadcasts the ladies’ sprint in Oberhof, starting at 2:10 p.m.
