Bianca Salming has had a dream start to the new season.
The 24-year-old won both the SM gold and broke a new record in the weekend’s pentathlon.
– There is more, but a stable level, says Bianca in a statement.
She is still waiting for her very first international medal. But at SM level, the gold comes in for the all-rounder Bianca Salming.
Bianca’s success
On Sunday, the Swede won her 13th WC gold in her career when she took home the pentathlon at the indoor WC in Växjö. Salming also made history when she broke a new arena record with a total of 4,367 points, which was also 49 points better than her last record in France’s Aubière last week.

But it would be highly dramatic for the Swede, who was second before the final 800 meters. The national team colleague and reigning champion Lovisa Karlsson led by just over 30 points but Bianca would then pick up the pace and pull away to win by far.

Salming’s words
Another SM gold for Bianca Salming, who comes from a very tough time in recent months after father Börje Salmings tragic demise. But she was still not very impressed with her performance in the SM.
– I am quite satisfied. It is still a stable level, but at the same time I have more to pick in each branch, at least in height, hurdles and length. There is more, but a stable level, she tells Swedish Athletics’ official website.

For Salming, this gold medal is a fine sign that the form is there for the upcoming indoor EC in Turkey. The Swede is also celebrated on Instagram for his new SM gold, see below.

Bianca’s trainer Vladimir Petrovic has posted a picture of her and her teammate Lisa Mårtenssonwho won JSM gold, and the congratulations have been pouring in.
