In March, the European Championships begin in Istanbul, where Bianca Salming will be there to represent Sweden.
The training takes place in Sollentuna, and the hall functions as therapy after father Börje Salming passed away.

November 24, 2022 passed Börje Salming passed away after a battle with the nerve and muscle disease ALS, aged 71. On December 20, the funeral took place when the iconic hockey player was taken to his final resting place at Skogskyrkogården in southern Stockholm.
“A lot of feelings”
For Börje Salming’s daughter Bianca Salming, 24, faces yet another track and field season. The biggest focus right now is on the indoor EC in Istanbul, Turkey, which starts in March. And exercise has been a big part of processing the grief.
– The training was initially very nice to have. There were so many emotions and thoughts. Once I got here to the hall, I could leave everything outside. All I could think about was running over this hedge or listening to the group as they talked. It was nice to be in a different context, says Bianca Salming to SVT Sport.

Both in Toronto and at home, Börje Salming received accolades, something that Bianca Salming is happy about.
– What I see as an advantage, which I don’t think many people get to experience, is that dad got to experience a lot of his tributes before he passed away, she tells the site.

The big goal
Despite the extremely heavy period of great sadness and loss, Bianca Salming is now looking ahead, while aiming for top positions during the EC in Istanbul.
– I have missed the indoor season two years in a row and I love competing indoors. I love running pentathlon, she says.
– Now I don’t just want to take part in the EC, now I want to go up and fight for the top positions. Especially indoors, I feel that I really have the capacity to do it. It feels like it’s time for me to do that.
