Bianca Salming’s grief is enormous.
Now she sends a greeting to the Swedish people.
– I am very grateful for all the support and love, she says.
The hockey world has been saddened since Börje Salming’s sudden death last week. It was this summer that the icon was diagnosed with ALS, and during the autumn Börje and the family have talked openly about the difficulties and the fight against the disease.
“I am very grateful”
Börje Salming suffered from depression immediately after the illness notification, and during the autumn he lost the ability to speak, and he also had to be tube-fed. Salming quickly got worse, and after receiving enormous tributes in Toronto and at the Tidernas Hockeygala in Sweden, he fell asleep almost a week ago.
For the immediate family, the late summer and autumn have been leaden. Bianca Salming spoke on Tuesday for the first time since Börje’s passing, in an interview with Expressen, and then sent a greeting to the Swedish people. She says that she is grateful, and that she knows that Börje was too.
– I am very grateful for all the support and love. I know it has meant everything to dad during this time, so I also want to thank him, she tells the newspaper.

“The only thing I find joy in”
Bianca Salming says it was a shock that everything happened so quickly, and she still finds it difficult to talk about what happened. Bianca Salming is also a talented track and field athlete. Training has become a free zone for her.
– Sport is the only thing I can feel a single percent of joy in right now. When I stand there before a training session or when I do some exercise at the gym, then I feel.. excited, she says.
– It’s the only time.
When Bianca competed in the athletics EC in August, Börje Salming was in the stands, wearing a shirt with the text: “Bianca Salming Fan Club”. Now Bianca Salming dreams further, towards the next EC.
– Yes, that is my biggest goal right now. My only goal. That’s what I see in front of me when I train.
