Bianca Salming is one of Sweden’s top track and field athletes right now.
But now the 24-year-old reveals the private things that many have already guessed.

2022 was extremely difficult for Bianca Salming and none of us can understand what she has gone through when the father and the hockey icon Börje Salming passed away after battling the nerve disease ALS. On November 24, she lost her father and great role model in life.
Bianca’s career
Since then, the sadness has been enormous for the Swede, who also followed in her father’s footsteps and invested wholeheartedly in sports. But instead of hockey, it was athletics and above all heptathlon for Bianca.

In recent years, she has had her big breakthrough and developed into Sweden’s leading heptathlete. The Swede has so far won a total of 14 SM gold medals in various athletics disciplines, but is still waiting for his very first international medal in his career.

Salming’s answer
Recently, Salming was a guest on the radio program “Morgonpasset i P3” and had to answer some private questions about what it’s like to be an athletics athlete, in addition to the sport itself. Because there is a prejudiced image of athletes who live close to each other during competitions and love relationships can easily arise.

Now Bianca goes out and confirms all the rumors and speculations.
– I think all sports have a bit of “incest”, you could say. It is very much so. In the world of athletics, they’re pretty crazy, but I try to stay out of that. There is always a banquet afterwards and then everyone has finished competing. Most of the time it has been the biggest goal of the season and then everyone can let loose after that. Then things can happen, she says in the radio program.
– You know above all if someone has been with several, then you have a clue. I’m not going to say any names, but it’s the kind of thing you can sit and gossip about. It is also so much fun with sports that a person becomes more attractive if they are also good. It’s still disgusting.

Salming has sacrificed a lot to be able to give the body the best possible conditions to succeed as well as possible. In contrast to how it is in another sport, with which she has a close relationship.
– Hockey players can live a completely different kind of life. They can be more crazy. We, track and field athletes, stay at home more and are not allowed to touch a drop of alcohol. Whereas hockey players are allowed to do more what they want and can do it. Track and field athletes absolutely cannot go out and drink because we have to train tomorrow, but they can go out and party until 05 o’clock, says Bianca, who has a boyfriend who plays hockey and that she grew up with one of Sweden’s foremost hockey icons of all time .
– I’ve listened to all of Dad’s stories from Toronto, it wasn’t like he was calm… Then I just think, I can’t live there. But I can’t say more than that, haha. It’s a secret!
