Bianca Salming is in the limelight right now.

And now the 25-year-old reveals a completely new venture for his sports career.
It’s been a tough year for Bianca Salming who had to say goodbye to his father and great role model in life, Börje Salming. The hockey icon passed away in the aftermath of the incurable nerve disease ALS at the end of 2022 and since then the loss has been great.
Salming’s decision
To deal with the grief, the daughter has put a lot of focus on her own sports career as an all-rounder. Bianca is one of the best in the discipline in Sweden and has won 13 SM gold medals so far during her career in various athletics disciplines.

Now the big highlight of the year awaits with the summer athletics world championships in August, and then the 24-year-old, who is also highly topical as one of this year’s summer speakers, reveals that she has started a completely new venture that could pave the way for a change in her career. Namely, Salming will shift his investment to more focus on high jump.
– Right now at the beginning of the season, I have put a little extra energy into the high jump to see how it goes and how it would have gone if I invested a little extra in it. There is a lot of high jumping right now, she says in an interview with Radiosporten.

Change career?
She has a personal best in the high jump of 1.92 meters, but still has a little way up there at the moment, as the season’s best for the year is 1.84 m. Now the clear goal is to jump higher this summer before the WC.
– I want to be more stable around 1.90 so then I have a little to lie in. That is my goal, absolutely, she says in the interview.

Already four years ago, Radiosport’s athletics expert came Miro Zalar with the suggestion that Bianca Salming should switch to the high jump instead, due to her running ability preventing her from being successful in the all-around.
– I think she is very good at high jump and should probably change her saddle and just focus on that. I don’t think her basic ability in running is good enough, he said in 2019.
