The emotions were strong and the tears many when Börje Salming was paid tribute this weekend.
Now daughter Bianca Salming opens up and sends a warm thank you to everyone who contributed.
“A day to remember. Thanks to everyone,” she writes in an emotional post on Instagram.
It was a final farewell to one of Swedish hockey’s biggest profiles. This weekend, the Swedish hockey family paid tribute to the deceased Börje Salming in the most dignified and respectful manner.

Some of Swedish hockey’s biggest icons and old teammates from the Toronto Maple Leafs had gathered in Gävle to play the “Game for Börje”. A fine initiative to raise money for the all-important ALS research.

The exhibition match attracted thousands of spectators and, in the face of relegation, Brynäs IF gave its club icon the ultimate tribute. When Salming’s shirt number 17 was raised to the ceiling in the home arena Monitor ERP Arena and immortalized next to big brother Stig Salmings jersey number.

The daughter was there Bianca Salming and it was an extremely emotional day for her. Now she opens up on Instagram about the beautiful tribute and sends a warm thank you to the Swedish people and everyone who made the special day possible.

Bianca also reveals that a whopping SEK 9 million was collected for Börje Salming’s ALS foundation during the tribute day.
“A day to remember. 9 million to Börje Salming’s ALS foundation really means everything. Thanks to Brynäs, TV4, everyone who played the match and everyone who donated money,” she writes in a nice post on Instagram along with several photos of the ceremony.

“So beautiful”
Bianca Salming has also posted an emotional video to sum up the whole day that came about because Börje Salming was such a lovable and well-liked hockey player and personality.
“For you,” the daughter writes to the video on Instagram, see it below.
She is then showered with love greetings and many hearts on Instagram. The actors Walter Skarsgård and Hedda Stiernstedtwho has the main roles in the upcoming TV series about Börje Salming, as well as the football icon Thomas Brolin are some of those who sent hearts to Bianca.
“What a day”, writes the clothing brand Salming in a comment.
“Respect and love,” writes another follower.
“A fantastically nice day to experience. So beautiful when the broom was lifted to the roof,” writes a third.
