Börje Salming has been highly praised throughout the weekend.
The hockey icon, together with his immediate family, has received enormous love in Toronto.
On Father’s Day, one of the finest tributes also came, from his daughter Bianca.
All of Toronto came together this weekend to support “The King” when Börje Salming received the greatest and most beautiful tribute. The Swede has received love and applause from many thousands in recent days.
Börje’s tribute
It already started on the night of Saturday when the 71-year-old took to the ice in the Toronto Maple Leafs’ home arena Scotiabank Arena with the help of Mats Sundin and former teammate Darryl Sittler. Then it was the Hockey Hall of Fame that organized the tribute and for a few minutes there was a standing ovation for the Swedish hockey icon.

On the night of Sunday, it was then the Maple Leafs themselves who organized their own tribute to their own number 21. And it would break records in emotional scenes and tears when Börje Salming received the most powerful tribute chorus from his old supporters in his old hometown.

It was an incredibly moved Salming who had to receive the audience’s endless love and the applause never seemed to subside. Everything to show their great support for the 71-year-old during the tough time with the nerve disease ALS.

During Sunday, the daughter also chose Bianca Salming, the day in honor, to pay tribute to father Börje on Father’s Day. On Instagram, the daughter posted a picture of herself, the father in a wheelchair and sister Teresa from Toronto, where both children had accompanied to help their father.
“Forever your girls. Happy Father’s Day,” she writes along with the picture, which you can see below.
The beautiful words from a daughter to her father make the hearts of many Swedes melt. The picture has received almost 60,000 likes and is showered with hearts in the comments section.
