“Better than the original” – Gronkh watches AI video of himself playing a horror game

With the help of an artificial intelligence, the YouTuber hooded worm created a video in which he plays the game Phasmophobia together with the streamers Gronkh, Pandorya and Tobinator. MeinMMO tells you how Gronkh reacted live on Twitch and what concerns he expressed.

Who is Hoodworm? Michael “hoodworm” Dorrer (31) is a well-known personality in the world of streaming and online entertainment. Hoodworm was a key member of the team at PewDiePie, the famous YouTuber with 111 million subscribers, until 2017.

In his position as producer he was responsible for program planning, creation and ideation for more than two years. After that, he moved to Gronkh’s team. In the meantime he has made his own name and is successful as a streamer as well as a YouTuber.

Which video is it? Hood Worm recently came up with a special idea: an AI-generated video in which he plays the horror game Phasmophobia together with the established streamers Gronkh, Pandorya and Tobinator.

The four had previously played together regularly as a METT crew, but opportunities have been lacking lately due to Gronkh’s busy schedule. Apparently, this prompted Haubenwurm to create such a video to bring the missing foursome back to life.

Similar ideas are currently being pursued more frequently. Recently, an unknown person had an AI version of xQc streamed and was able to generate some viewers with it.

How did Gronkh react to the video? The AI-generated video premiered in one of Gronkh’s recent streams. The streamer was visibly surprised when he saw the opening scenes of the video for the first time.

After the first few seconds, Gronkh could hardly contain his laughter. “AI needs a little more,” he commented. The featured streamers in the video had a hilarious, robotic accent that drew a lot of laughs from Gronkh and his viewers. In particular, Tobinator’s comical distortion of his face and his exaggeratedly wide eyes provided considerable entertainment value.

“Better than the original”

How did the video come about? During the video, it finally dawned on Gronkh that hooded worm not only used the AI for the video, but also voiced the featured streamers. Gronkh and Pandorya’s otherwise non-existent Austrian accents revealed Hood Worm’s involvement and led to more funny moments.

At the end of the video, Haubenwurm gave an insight into the creation of the AI video and showed how he recorded the voices together with a colleague. Gronkh’s chat repeatedly commented ironically: “Better than the original”.

Gronkh explained at the end of the video: “It will be interesting to see what the whole thing will look like in a few years. That was more of a joke. The hooded worm could certainly have made it much more real, but then of course it gets even more complicated.”

However, the streamer also expresses concerns: “But I think it gets scary at some point, at some point. Or maybe it won’t be scary, maybe someone else will sit down here to stream at some point.”

While artificial intelligence is increasingly penetrating various creative areas, the question arises as to the potential and dangers of this development. The ability to use AI-generated content in the entertainment industry presents both new opportunities and ethical considerations.
