The American fast-food giant had the good idea of setting up on a ski slope.
Just because you go skiing doesn’t mean you have to deprive yourself of the little pleasures of everyday life. For winter sports, a fast food offering is always present in ski resorts: from pizzerias to snack bars and Asian cuisine, many fast food brands are available at the foot of the slopes or at the finish. from the chairlift. But have you ever had the chance to eat a good burger with fries on your skis?
It’s a bit of a UFO in the winter sports catering landscape: the American fast-food brand McDonald’s has established itself in a popular ski resort located in the southwest of Sweden, and has been doing so ever since. 1996. In Lindvallen, a ski resort with 50 ski lifts and numerous beginner slopes, this McDonald’s unlike any other called McSki delights skiers and snowboarders with its direct access from the slopes. It’s a bit like a Drive, except that it’s not cars waiting in the queue, but skiers!
The McSki has specific facilities for skiers and snowboarders, a special service that in Sweden is called “ski-thru”. For example, a conveyor belt allows customers to collect their order without having to take off their shoes, with helmet holders possibly available outside, or even sometimes ice beds. A good way to treat yourself to a gourmet break without wasting too much time. Those who prefer to eat on site can also do so, provided this time that they remove their skis or snowboards: 170 seats are available inside with ski racks and helmet racks as well. Guests will then be able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the ski area and the surrounding mountain before hitting the ski slopes again.
The McSki offers the same dishes as the other McDonald’s in Sweden, such as the legendary burgers or other sandwiches accompanied by fries, mixed salads, desserts well known to the brand, but also hot drinks such as coffee, tea or more hot chocolate. Eating your burger at the top of the ski slopes is a completely new experience but one that is entirely achievable in Sweden. Too bad the McSki only takes up residence in Lindvallen… In the absence of a good Big Mac, the French will console themselves with a good raclette in their ski areas!
