Put aside your usual fries and embark on a culinary adventure! This gratin combining potatoes and mushrooms promises an explosion of flavors, perfect for any occasion.

This potato and mushroom gratin is delicious. The recipe uses button mushrooms, but you can also use wild mushrooms such as chanterelles, ceps or chanterelles. It can be served as a main dish or as a side dish, for example with a steak or a slice of ham.

Ingredients :

  • 3 potatoes
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • 400g of mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 20g butter
  • 70-100g grated cheese
  • Fresh herbs, for example parsley

Instructions :

  1. Peel and slice the potatoes. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, forming a circle. Sprinkle with salt and drizzle with olive oil. Place another sheet of parchment paper over the potatoes.
  2. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 180°C.
  3. Chop the onion. Slice the mushrooms and sauté them in a little oil until the excess water has evaporated. Then add a knob of butter and stir until melted.
  4. Add the chopped onion to the mushrooms and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Remove the potato tray from the oven after the cooking time.
  6. Cut the circle of potatoes in half with a spatula. Sprinkle grated cheese on one half.
  7. Arrange the mushroom and onion mixture over the cheese. Add another layer of grated cheese over the mushrooms.
  8. Fold the other half of the potato circle over the mushrooms using parchment paper.
  9. Cook under the grill at 220°C for another 10-15 minutes.
  10. Decorate with fresh herbs

This potato and mushroom gratin offers unbeatable value for money. Using common ingredients, the total cost of the recipe is in a comfortable range between 10 and 15 euros. Of course, this amount can fluctuate slightly depending on the season, the quality of the ingredients chosen, and the region where you shop.
