The Swedish preparedness regarding forest fires has been tightened after the big fire year of 2018.
That’s what experts SVT Nyheter spoke to say. Some of the most important improvements are that the state now supports rescue services with helicopters and airplanes for firefighting.
At the local level, the rescue service has more knowledge of weather and ground conditions and more contact with forestry companies.
But scientists believe that there are still shortcomings in the after-extinguishing of forest fires.
