Best last minute destination

The sunny June quickly turned into a rainy July, despite the meteorologists’ promises of a record summer like 2018.

– Now many people probably feel a bit blown away by it and think: can we get away? says Kajsa Beausang, editor-in-chief of Joyvoy.

And last-minute trips are available – but there is a limited supply. Especially if you are looking to get away as cheaply as possible.

– If you want to make the best clip and have something to look forward to – if you have the opportunity to go after school starts, then from there on you can make clips, says Kajsa Beausang.

The countries you should bet on

She also recommends skipping the euro countries, because the euro is so high compared to the weak krona.

In addition, there are some destinations that offer more value for money than others.

– I would like to suggest Albania. There is a fantastic riviera, the city of Durrës with mile-long, wide, beautiful beaches and a cuisine with influences from Italy, Greece and the neighboring countries, says Kajsa Beausang.

Bulgaria is also a country that has a lot to offer for a cheaper price. Many travelers fear the country’s reputation of being just a party destination, something Kajsa Beausang wants to stamp out.

– Here you get a lot for your money. You also have the nice, wide beaches. Bulgaria is perhaps best known for Sunny Beach and partying young people. And yes, there is. But there is much else as well. Golf, hiking in the mountains and so on, she says.

“A little city, a little seaside resort”

Despite the fact that the travel companies have not seen any major deterrence among travelers for the extreme heat around the Mediterranean in recent weeks, Beausang advises destinations for those who want the heat – but not the 40-degree kind.

– Then I think you should look at the Atlantic coast instead, a little cooler water temperatures and a little more “breeze”. And then we have Portugal, where you get a lot for your money compared to neighboring countries.

– It’s great to combine, for example, Lisbon with Cascais, you get a bit of the city and a bit of a seaside resort, or get up to Porto, says Kajsa Beausang.

Slovenia is also on the list of countries she recommends.

– This is a country with a soft feel. You have the mountains, but there is also a small stretch of coast between Italy and Croatia. But a super tip for Slovenia is the many small wineries.
