Beraki, 43, shot to death – honored at ceremony in Farsta

Last Saturday, more than 20 automatic shots were fired at Farsta centrum.
A 15-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man, Tesfamichal Beraki, lost their lives.
Tonight, Ulf Kristersson is on site at a memorial service in the Stockholm suburb.
– I am here to show that there are many of us who are very sad about what has happened, says the Prime Minister.

It was around 6pm on Saturday that two men, who are now in custody on suspicion of double murder, opened fire.

The two men allegedly used a military automatic weapon and fired over 20 shots, killing the 15-year-old boy and Tesfamichal, 43, and seriously injuring two other people.

Friends of the murdered 43-year-old say that he worked as a photographer and that on the evening in question he was on his way home to Eskilstuna after photographing a baby shower. Tesfamichal should not have any links to crime whatsoever, according to the friends, and was completely unpunished.

Kristersson: “Want to show my participation”

On Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister will be present at the memorial service in Farsta.

– I want to show my participation, of course. I just met his brother. I am here to show that there are many of us who are very sad about what has happened but also determined that this must not continue, and that we are doing everything in our power to stop this violence, he tells TV4 News.

In order to stop the wave of violence, many things must be done at the same time, according to Kristersson. It is mainly about punishing, expelling and preventing.

– If there was a simple decision to make, then it would have been made a long time ago. We are now revising the legislation on a very broad front. It will bite, but it takes time to change things like this, says the prime minister.

The friend remembers Tesfamichal

Asenat was friends with Tesfamichal, whom he describes as a very kind person, who worked hard to get a better life in Sweden.

– It is sad and surreal at the same time. It is hard to believe that it is happening here in Sweden. We had a family party, he had a hobby as a photographer and we offered him to take pictures at the party, says Asenat.

On Sunday morning, people gathered at the site to light candles, leave flowers and mourn the 15-year-old who was killed in the shooting.
