Sarah Sjöström is one of Sweden’s greatest hopes for gold.
Now she gets unexpected support – from Benjamin Ingrosso.
– I know she will make us all proud, says the artist.
Sarah Sjöström is only 30 years old but will soon make her fifth (!) Olympics. She was already in Beijing 2008, and has since grown into one of the greatest swimmers in history, with a track record few can match.
Sarah’s Tribute
Sarah Sjöström has won almost a hundred medals in international championships over the years and she is the most successful swimmer ever on that front. She is certainly a step up from Olympic icons like Michael Phelps, but she enters the Paris Olympics as one of Sweden’s great hopes for gold, even though she has opted out of several potential medal chances.
But in order to succeed at a major championship, it is necessary that the upload is optimal. Ahead of this year’s competitions, there is a certain artist who is hot with the Swedish national swimming team, in the form of Benjamin Ingrosso. And Sarah Sjöstöm is happy to support that.
– Absolutely, he is the star, says Sjöström to Expressen.
The relationship with the golden hope
Sarah Sjöström tells us that she usually doesn’t put on any particular playlist, but that Benjamin Ingrosso’s songs have a tendency to find their way in anyway, considering how popular his songs are.
– I usually burn through the top 50 in Sweden several times and then Benjamin is top ten in almost everything, she says.
But the fact is that Sjöström and Ingrosso’s relationship extends further than that. When Ingrosso hears that the national swimming team is using his music to cheer for the Olympics, he shines – and also reveals that he and Sjöström are friends.
– So great to hear. I am extremely honored that my music can inspire and motivate our Olympic swimmers! I wish all our sports stars the best of luck in Paris, especially Queen Sarah who is a good friend of mine, and I know they will make us all proud, says the artist to Expressen.
