The prize is awarded every year to the year’s best Nordic album and has previously gone to, among others, Robyn, Susanne Sundfør and Sigur Ró’s frontman Jónsi. The award ceremony is held at the Norwegian festival by:Larm.

Maurseth is praised for mixing older Norwegian soundscapes with a futuristic musical approach, writes the festival in a press release. The 39-year-old started playing instruments at the age of seven and often uses the Norwegian instrument Hardingfiol.
