For years, Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch had to talk over his Marvel colleague Tom Holland in various interviews when the young MCU star was too quick to blurt out secret details about the films. Now he obviously wants his turn and reveals secret details about Avengers 5: Doomsday and Avengers 6: Secret Wars.

Avengers 5 and 6: Benedict Cumberbatch sits out one of the two Marvel hits
In an interview with Variety, Cumberbatch first drops the bombshell that Doctor Strange won’t be in Avengers 5 at all. When his conversation partner then confronts him with the spoiler nature of his statement, the Marvel star simply says: “So be it!”
However, he doesn’t directly reveal why Strange is missing from the next Avengers film. Things changed with Jonathan Majors’ conviction, the actor said. His character does not fit the part of the story that is told in the fifth film.
But his Marvel hero should be seen even more in the sequel Secret Wars, says Cumberbatch. “It is central to the development of the whole thing“, he explains. And in passing he also hints at a third Doctor Strange film, which he talks about with the Marvel producers:
They are very open to talking about next steps. [Sie fragen:] ‘Who do you want to direct and write the next film? Which comic do you want to do to help Strange develop further?’

In the end, Cumberbatch’s statements don’t result in any concrete dates, but it seems like Marvel fans can expect a lot of Doctor Strange material in the future. However, only after that April 29, 2026, if Avengers 5 is released without Strange. Avengers 6 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
