Bencic defeats Jabeur in Charleston final

The Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic, number 21 in the WTA, was proclaimed this Sunday champion of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston by defeating the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, tenth in the world ranking, in the final.

Bencic, who had beaten the Spanish Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals, beat Jabeur 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 on clay in Charleston in two hours and 35 minutes.

This is the sixth title for Bencic throughout his career -including Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020- and Charleston marks his first victory on clay.
