Belarus’ Lukashenko was not seen at Sunday’s celebrations – rumors about his health intensified

Belarus Lukashenko was not seen at Sundays celebrations rumors

The last time Lukashenko was seen in public was during the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on Tuesday.

Autocratically ruling Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been out of the public eye for days. He was also not seen on Sunday, when the country’s national symbols, flag, coat of arms and national anthem were celebrated.

In a televised ceremony, the Prime Minister of Belarus Rama’s Haloutshenka congratulated his compatriots on behalf of Lukashenka.

The last time Lukashenko was seen in public was on Tuesday. At that time, he traveled to Moscow for the Victory Day celebrations. Many journalists noted that Lukashenko looked tired. He also did not participate in the Russian president Vladimir Putin for a hosted lunch. Editor of the Russian newspaper Kommersant Andrei Kolesnikov said that Lukashenko looked “unwell”.

After returning home from Moscow, Lukashenka was still seen laying flowers in Minsk during Belarus’ own Victory Day celebrations on May 9. Contrary to tradition, however, Lukashenko did not speak to the Belarusian war veterans.

On the channel of the opposition’s messaging service Telegram, it was reported that Lukashenka visited a medical center outside Minsk on Saturday evening, but this information could not be objectively confirmed, says BBC (switch to another service).

Lukashenko’s office has not commented on the matter.
