Although the movie Avatar was released in December 2009, it sprouted in the mind of james cameron much earlier. It was actually in the mid-1990s that Cameron, coming out of Terminator 2 and True Lies, wrote what Pandora and the creatures that live there will be. In an interview with Allociné in 2009, James Cameron returned to the creation of this universe: “At the beginning of 1995, I wrote a treatment ofAvatar. A hundred pages that looked more like the basis of a novel than a screenplay for a film. There was the universe, the characters, the sets, the jungle, the giant trees, the floating mountains… The entire Pandora universe was detailed. But it wasn’t a script, more a working document that would initiate the designs, the work on the visual effects.”
