Behind the ban is a conspiracy at Twitch – Curses the “rat” who revealed the secret

Gaming streamer DrDisrespect returned to YouTube on Friday, September 6, 2024, after a 74-day hiatus. His stream began with a statement about his Twitch ban in 2020 and the aftermath of that ban that destroyed his career 2 months ago.

These are the allegations against DrDisrespect:

On June 22, former Twitch employee Cody Conners posted a tweet: “He was banned because he was caught sexting a minor through the Twitch system. He was trying to meet her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read that in plain language.”

Cody Conners didn’t name a name, but it was clear that he was referring to DrDisrespect, who was banned from Twitch in 2020.

Other Twitch employees later confirmed these allegations and said that DrDisrespect was also reported to a child protection agency in the US. He knew that the person he was talking to was a minor. The conversations took place in 2017 – DrDisrespect was banned in 2020, shortly after Twitch launched an offensive to investigate exactly such cases.

Our video on DrDisrespect reflects the status of the case before the current developments:

DrDisrespect goes on 74 days holiday after failing to refute allegations

This is what DrDisrespect said in response to the allegations: DrDisrespect initially said the case had been investigated and that he and Twitch had agreed that no one would admit to wrongdoing. However, he had been paid out for his contract.

Later, as pressure mounted, DrDisrespect admitted that he had exchanged messages with a “single minor” that occasionally bordered on the inappropriate.

As a result, his partners and his gaming studio parted ways with him, YouTube demonetized his channel, and he went on vacation for 74 days.

DrDisrespect rants and rants against Twitch

This is what DrDisrespect says: DrDisrespect, who was previously on the defensive, immediately goes into attack mode:

He says that Cody Conners is a “rat” who revealed secret information that was kept under lock and key for no reason at all. He must know how the Internet reacts to such things.

Conners knows nothing about the case, wasn’t there, and apparently has no idea what “sexting” is. DrDisrespect certainly didn’t engage in “sexting” – it was just banter.

Every single investigation into the case has shown that he did nothing wrong at the time, the 42-year-old stresses. It was only when his statements were taken out of context that those responsible at Twitch banned him under time pressure and without knowing all the facts. The investigation that led to the ban only took an hour and was based on hand-picked excerpts from the conversations.

The security team and the legal system later admitted in an internal investigation that the “sexting” allegations were unfounded.

The person in question, whom DrDisrespect calls a “Twitch user,” had already reached the age at which he could decide for himself about his sexuality. The person did not submit a report of his own accord, but only when he was pressured to do so.

He never intended to meet the person – these are all “bullshit accusations”:

Cody Conners and these other anonymous sources want to create the impression that I exchanged sexually explicit messages and images with this Twitch user. That never happened.

Why couldn’t he say that before? DrDisrespect says he was under a confidentiality agreement that is no longer valid because one side unilaterally broke the agreement.

DrDisrespect says he should never have been banned for taking jokes out of context

What did he do then? He speaks of mutual banter with inappropriate jokes taken out of context.

That should never have led to him being banned. And actually, the initial investigation had already been closed, it was only reopened because a Twitch employee had a personal vendetta against him and abused his contacts in Twitch’s legal department to reopen the case.

He was only banned because these jokes were taken out of context. You can make any conversation look bad if you just take individual sentences out of context and show them to someone else to evaluate.

However, later, the very people who banned him admitted during an investigation that it was not sexting.

DrDisrespect sees former Twitch partner manager as main opponent

Who does he think is to blame for his anger? DrDisrepsect apparently had a number of problems with former employees at Twitch. One former partner manager in particular had it in for him. This person had done nothing for DrDisresepct and his community for years.

This partner manager reportedly found out about the news three years later and then allegedly did everything in his power to get DrDisrespect banned, using personal contacts in the legal department at Twitch to do so.

DrDisrespect also suspects that parts of the security team that banned him back then are now conspiring with Cody Conners to coordinate their accusations against him.

He says he knows exactly who the two people are that he considers to be “sources for the allegations,” but they seem to have forgotten that they admitted internally that the allegations were untrue. They admitted internally that the content did not “justify child abusive behavior.”

What happens next? Despite DrDisrespect’s harsh accusations, he apparently does not want to sue anyone or comment on the issue any further.

His plan is to ask YouTube to allow him to earn money there again and carry on as before.

DrDisrespect is loud and angry, but pays close attention to the legally correct vocabulary

This is what’s behind it: DrDisrespect doesn’t really bring anything new, but clarifies his position, which he already has:

  • The person he was texting may have been underage, but he was still above the age of consent – so legally speaking, he did nothing wrong.
  • He did not admit to “sexting,” only to sending “inappropriate messages.”
  • He was formally found innocent in the case and had to remain silent about it.
  • So, in principle, he is repeating everything he has already said before, now with the utmost conviction and in an accusatory tone against some employees at Twitch who wanted to play tricks on him.

What is striking about the statement is that DrDisrespect pays close attention to his vocabulary and uses many words that do not suit him. He emphasizes that the investigation found that he did not molest any children. But he was not accused of doing so.

DrDisrespect denies sexting – says Twitch should never have banned him

This is what’s behind it: His defense is basically: I did do something, but it’s not nearly as bad as you say, because she was over 16, it wasn’t sexting, I never wanted to meet her, and every investigation cleared me. And besides, it was under wraps and should never have been brought up.

But his partners didn’t break up with him because they thought he had done something illegal, but rather something morally wrong. He leaves this “moral misstep” uncommented: The former Twitch star DrDisrespect apparently found out live on stream that his gaming studio was kicking him out
