Before Christopher Nolans The Odyssey there were already over 30

Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan stays with the letter o and is currently working on The Odyssey, a cinematic implementation of Homers classic Odysseus-Narrative. He is by no means the first to start with the epic adventure from ancient Greece.

But while series like Clash of the Gods and films like The Return obviously refer to the Odyssey, there are other titles in which the cover is more surprising. For example at the sci-fi-anime Odysseus 31, the gang film the Warrios and last but not least the sponge bobshaft sponge head film. However, a very specific strip is an absolute masterpiece under the Odyssee.

Probably the best odyssee adaptation is o brother, where art thou? From the Coen brothers

With o brother, where art thou? -The Coen brothers Joel and Ethan (The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men) create a Mississippi-Odyssey satirical southern musicalthat is often overlooked in her filmography. The film with George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson revolves around three inmates that break out of prison in 1937 and open on their very own Knasti-Edyssey.

Clooney’s film character Ulysse’s Everett McGill refers directly to Odysseus (which is called Ulysses in English), but the parallels do not stop at the hero’s legendary journey home: three country singers (Mia Tate, Musetta Vander and Christy Taylor) appear as sirens and a one-eyed Bible seller (John Goodman) stops Cyclop.

With a 7.4 out of 10 after 13,019 reviews, No Country for Old Men can be seen in the Moviepilot Community. The Soundtrack was even recognized as an album of the year at the 2002 Grammy Awards.
