Beetlejuice 2 star Michael Keaton’s real name is completely different – but he is not allowed to use his real name

Beetlejuice 2 star Michael Keatons real name is completely different

If you say Beetlejuice three times, you are conjuring up the weird bio-exorcist from the Tim Burton cult film. If you say Michael Keaton once, you are saying a made-up name of the star behind the role. As he explained again now, Keaton thought it up at the time because he is not allowed to use his real name. That’s thanks to another Hollywood legend.

Michael Keaton shares his real name with another Hollywood star and is therefore not allowed to use it officially

In an interview with US magazine People, Keaton talked about how he whose real name is Michael Douglas. However, the American actors’ union Screen Actors Guild (SAG) had already registered a certain other Michael Douglas (Wall Street) and the talk show host Mike Douglas. And the same name twice was not allowed in the SAG register.

The aspiring star then simply thought up the name Michael Keaton and had himself registered under it.

At the age of 72, Keaton is now considering a decisive career change. In the future, he would like to change the name Michael Keaton Douglas carry.

When will Beetlejuice 2 with Michael Keaton (Douglas) be released in cinemas?

In his latest film Beetlejuice, which continues the Tim Burton classic from 1988, the main actor is still listed as Michael Keaton in the credits. 12 September 2024 you can watch the film on the big screen.

Moviepilot editor-in-chief Jenny Jecke has already seen the film at this year’s Venice Film Festival and gives a clear recommendation:

Then there is of course the timeless Beetlejuice by Michael Keaton, which I seriously asked myself in the cinema how he could survive without this character. So much manic energy and enthusiasm has to go somewhere. Does Keaton store it up only to explode in front of a camera every thirty years? In any case, the audience can count themselves lucky that Keaton was able to dust off his black and white suit and grey fuzzy wig again.
