Mona Brorsson has ended her career as a biathlete.
Now she will take the step into a completely new sport – on wheels.
– This is just for my own sake, she tells the local newspaper VF about the new venture.
Three months have passed since then Mona Brorsson bid farewell to the long biathlon career. For many years, she has been a highly valued teammate in the national team and a reliable relay runner.

Since retirement, Brorsson has been active in various different projects. Among other things, she has started as a volunteer with the Red Cross.
– It is super rewarding. I wanted to give back after all the years of focusing on myself. Now an opportunity arose and it feels great to be able to do something completely different, she says in an interview with Värmlands Folkblad.
Mona’s new sport
Now she will also take on a completely new challenge – in a completely new sport for her. This summer, Mona will go through Cykelvasan for the first time in her life.
– I’ve been a bit keen on it for several years, but it’s never been the right fit. It is just before the roller ski shooting SC and there is a certain risk of injury with the race, as there are a lot of people. My partner and his family have been riding Cykelvasan for many years and I have always felt that I want to be part of the whole family experience, says Brorsson to the local newspaper.
– I will certainly ride as fast as I can, but I have absolutely no ambition to win or get on the podium. I definitely have no idea where I stand, this is just for my own sake. It is important to enjoy the folk festival and take your time to stop at the stations that offer juice or blueberry soup.

According to her, her body has itched after putting the rifle on the famous shelf. Mona Brorsson has really missed being able to compete, even if it concerns a completely new sport on two wheels for 96 kilometers.
– Yes a little. But I wanted to do something completely different. I love doing physical things with my body so this will be perfect. Last week I cycled around Siljan (16 miles), also with my partner’s family. Adventurous competitions are exactly what I want to do right now, but I want to be there for the sake of the exercise experience and not to fight for advanced placements, she says in the interview.
