Yesterday it was announced that fourteen works with naked Beemster women had to be removed from the town hall. The paintings had only been hanging in the hall there for two weeks, but according to the municipality there were several complaints about the canvases, which would give visitors “an uncomfortable feeling”. The council declined to say how many there were. A spokesperson told the NOS that there were “enough”.
