Beckman responds to criticism of SVT: “Participating as an artist”

In the upcoming program series “Nude with Wollter”, the body activist will paint a celebrity naked. But critics believe that she should not be allowed to lead a program on SVT after she made anti-Semitic statements.

Amanda Sokolnicki, political editor at Dagens Nyheter, does not think that Stina Wollter has distanced herself from her statements

– These are very rough things and she had a hard time accepting the criticism. Now, this short time later, she is going to make cozy TV, she says

According to Sokolnicki, anti-Semitism is not taken seriously enough.

– It is about a lovely and cheerful left-wing woman and then these very rough things were perceived as much less serious.

SVT: “She participates as an artist”

Eva Beckman, program director at SVT, says that she distances herself from what Stina Wollter has spread, but does not agree that Wollter has not apologized.

– The important thing for me is that this is a program where she participates as an artist. It has nothing to do with the world situation, says Eva Beckman and continues:

– At SVT there can and must be people who have opinions and take positions on various issues. What happens is that it strongly limits what you can do on SVT.

But Amanda Sokolnicki believes that it would rather have been an advantage if it had been in another type of program that Wollter had been part of.

– I rather think that it would have been an advantage. If she is on a program where she talks about politics, people have a chance to strip her arguments and face her seriously. Now it’s just swept away as if it were a small thing, says Sokolnicki.
