(Telestock) – It is not fair to penalise thousands of consumers who have chosen Italian beach resorts for their holidaysrecognizing its quality and functionality. For this reason, thousands of companies associated with Assobalneari and La Base Balneare with Donnedamare, the most representative organizations of Italian beach operators, will abstain from the strike called by some trade unions for Friday 9 August”. This was announced Fabrizio Licordari, president of Assobalneari and Bettina Bollapresident of La Base Balneare with Donnedamare.
The strike is proclaimed by the trade unions Sib Confcommercio and Fib Confesercentwith the symbolic closing of the umbrellas for the first two hours of the morning.
According to Licordari and Bolla, “the best way to identify a solution capable of bringing order to the sector remains that of supporting the validity of the mapping made by the Italian government, defending it from unmotivated and ideological attacks”.
“Good. Excellent news. We can only share the motivation,” says Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union. This is what Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union, says in a note commenting on the announcement that Assobalneari will abstain from tomorrow’s beach umbrella strike, believing it unfair to penalize thousands of consumers. “To be more precise, consumers would be damaged twice with the strike. The first time because the lack of competition and blocked concessions have allowed, in recent years, unjustified price increases compared to the quality of the service offered, and the second time because after the damage they would now also suffer the insult of losing two hours of beach. It seems like little, but it is not, considering that holidays today no longer last the entire month of August as they once did, but are increasingly shorter, to cope with the high cost of living,” continues Dona. “According to the latest Istat data, 49.6% of long holidays last less than a week. In short, two hours less, as Assobalneari rightly says, would penalize consumers, who, we reiterate, will still have to be compensated for the disruption caused by the strike, with a free day at the beach” concludes Dona.
