Be like a zombie – it will bite anyone, without discrimination

Zombie Walk processions are organized around the world, also in Finland.

The Zombie Walk, which has become a tradition, was organized on Saturday in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. People dressed as undead characters familiar from horror movies and voodoo witchcraft sauntered through the streets with fake blood pouring out.

In addition to terrifying fun, the zombies also aim to spread a positive message with their antics.

– We grab people with our values, listed the organizer of the event, the “zombie master” Jesus Rodríguez.

– With tolerance, because a zombie does not attack another zombie. Indiscriminately, because a zombie will bite anyone – it doesn’t matter if it’s a child, the elderly, the rich or the poor. And finally with integration, because a zombie does not kill but creates a new friend – a new zombie.

The Mexico City Zombie Walk was organized for the 15th time. This is the first time in three years, because due to the corona pandemic in 2020 the event was organized virtually and last year it was canceled completely.

– After two years of the pandemic, this is a big deal. People need to get out, be together and connected and see each other. This is not a subculture but a tradition: we have been organizing this procession for 15 years, said Jorge Yobal, who participated in the procession.

The worldwide Zombie Walk tradition started in Sacramento, California in 2001. Since then, it has spread to different parts of the world. Different cities in Finland have also organized their own events – most recently in Oulu in September.
