Be careful if you receive an SMS indicating that you are eligible for the fuel premium, a bonus which no longer exists. These are crooks who send fraudulent messages referring to a trapped site.

The fuel prices have been soaring since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022. Even if they have come down since, they remain far superior to what they were in the past. And, unfortunately, this is not going to improve, because the pump prices have climbed greatly since the beginning of the year. Very bad news for French motorists, especially since the car is essential for many people in order to go to work or to work.

To help the most modest households depending on their vehicles, the government has renewed the fuel check, which increased from 200 euros to 300 euros maximum since January 1, 2025. On the other hand, the fuel allowance was removed, the State that is desperately looking to save money. It didn’t take more for the crooks to develop a new series of scams, playing on confusion. As reported Auto Plusa phishing campaign is currently rampant by SMS, telling the victims that they would have the right to fuel compensation in the amount of 100 euros.

Scam with fuel bonus: aid that no longer exists

The process is classic: the SMS contains a link on which the victim is encouraged to click, a link which redirects to a fraudulent site strongly resembling the government site. There, a form allows cybercriminals to collect the personal and banking data of the Internet user. Simple, but effective. All they have to do is take money from the bank account or make fraudulent payments.

It should be kept in mind that the fuel allowance has been deleted. As for the fuel check, it is obtained by filling out an online questionnaire on the tax site followed by another form. Candidates for this premium must in particular indicate their tax number as well as the number of the vehicle license plate they use. Obviously, the tax authorities will never send any SMS or email to offer or promote this aid.

Remember, but you should never click on a link that you do not know. If you are the target of an online or SMS scam, immediately transfer the message to 33,700, a platform specializing in scams reporting, spam signal or Pharos. You can also report these fraudulent messages to the site Internet- Signally.gouv.fr. Then block the sender number to no longer be bothered.
