Be careful how you clean the screen of your smartphone, tablet, computer or television! Certain actions and products can permanently damage it.
Smartphones, tablets, computers, televisions… Many of our daily devices have a screen. And even though they’re not all touchscreen, these displays attract dust, fingerprints and other dirt that impairs their readability and sometimes hygiene, when you consider the inevitable bacteria that settles continuously on their surface. Faced with all these impurities, the reflex is often to clean them with any product at hand. Fatal error ! Because certain actions and products can cause more damage than the dirt to be removed.
First thing to avoid: classic household products. Bleach, window cleaner, oven cleaner… all of these products contain aggressive chemicals that can permanently damage your screens. They risk scratching the surface, dulling it, or even discoloring it by altering the special coatings that protect them. Another common mistake: using paper towels to wipe a screen. Paper fibers, even the softest, can leave micro-scratches invisible to the naked eye, but which affect image quality and tactile responsiveness.
To clean your screens safely, opt for wipes or sprays specially designed for this purpose. These products are formulated with non-aggressive cleaning agents and moisturizing agents that effectively remove dirt without damaging the display surface. If you are looking for a more ecological and economical solution, you can use natural products. White vinegar diluted in distilled water is an excellent screen cleaner. You can also use lemon juice mixed with water.
And it is not enough to use the right accessories and the right products for risk-free cleaning: you also need to adopt the right actions. First, turn off and unplug your device before cleaning: this helps avoid short circuits and accidents. Next, always use a soft, lint-free cloth: microfibers are ideal because they leave no marks. Above all, never apply any product directly to the screen: lightly dampen the cloth with the cleaning product. Then make gentle circular movements, without pressing too hard. Finally, finish by wiping the screen with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any excess product that may have deposited.
To limit the cleaning of your screens, remember to wipe them regularly with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. You can also use protective films to prevent scratches and fingerprints. By following these simple tips, you will keep your screens clean and bright for a long time, without risking damage.
