The reigning men’s basketball champion BC Nokia took their opening win of the season from the leading Helsinki Seagulls by one basket.

BC Nokia’s evening already looked as minor as the entire season so far, when the reigning champion of Korisliiga had to go into the booth at the break from an 18-point deficit.
However, the fight in the second half finally brought Nokia a comfortable 77-75 victory over the Seagulls.
The Seagulls still had the keys to the solution in their hands, when the challenger from Helsinki got the last possession of the match in a one-point deficit. by Curtis Hollis however, the drive to the basket collided with Nokia by Xavier Green to combat. Green, who scored 14 points and 12 rebounds, commented in an interview with Ruuttu:
– We got back into the game really only because we got stops and thanks to that we made easy baskets. In the first half the Seagulls got a lot of new attempts from attacking rebounds and in the second we limited their attack to one attempt.
Teammate Ross recorded nine points, three rebounds, eight assists and three steals. About Finnish players Antti Ahonen registered a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
The Seagulls’ Hollis scored 16 points and five rebounds.
The win was BC Nokia’s first of six matches of the season. The Seagulls have four wins from the same number of matches.
