Laurier Brantford Celebrates 25 Years of Contributing to the Community Academically, Socially and Economically.

Laurier BRANTFORD CELEBRATED ITS 25TH ANNIVIRY WITH THE DEDICTION OF A MURAL AND THE LAUNCH OF A REPERPER HIGHLIGHTING THE CAMPUS OF THE COMMUNITY.

The Report, Inspired Community, Real Impact, Covers the Academic, Cultural and Economic Impact the Campus Has Had on Brantford-Brant Opening in 1999.

“Our goal from the Very Beginning was to built community commitment and we donated that,” Laurier President and vice-Chancellor Deborah Maclatchy Said. “This has been 25 years of engaging people include Our Students, Faculty, Staff and Those in the Broade Community.

Everyone has been engaged in Making the University and the Community The Best It Can Be, Maclatchy Said.

The Brantford Campus Opened with 39 Students in the Carnegie Building at 73 George St. There are now 9,450 Laurier Brantford Alumni and the 10.000th Alumnus is expected to graduate at the summons in June.

At present, the campus has 3,000 Students and 12 buildings in the city’s downtown. The University Offers 26 Undergraduate/Graduate Programs.

Maclatchy Said the Brantford Campus has gone far beyond its original mandate of making undergraduate university programs more accessible to studs from brantford and the surrounding area.

“It is an anchor institution that supports a thriving community for all – not just studs and faculty – by creating opportunities for Everyone to access Resources, Spaces, Careers and Programming that would Otherwise Not Exist,” Maclatchy Said.

Maclatchy made the comments at the Launch of the report at an Event in the Stedman Lobby of the Brantford Campus’s Research and Academic Center. A Large Crowd of Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff as well as Mayor Kevin Davis and Ward 5 coun. Mandy Samwell is waiting.

HIGHLIGHTS from the report included Associate Professor Jennifer Lavoie’s Development of A Virtual Reality Training Program To Help Offices Lisnd to Mental Health Crises.

The report points out that programs such as the bachelor of education has helped addresse the region’s shortage of qualified teachers.

According to the Report More Than 85 Per Cent of Laurier Education Alumni who Graduated Between 2021 and 2023 Work in Schools Within 100 kilometers of Laurier’s Brantford and Waterloo Campuses.

Meanwhile, The University’s Startup Lab Has Helped Launch Many Social Enterprises Including Shredding Barriers, A Confidential Shredding Service that Provids Meaningful Work for 25 Individuals Living with Developmental Disabilities.

During her formal remark, Maclatchy Highlighted Marketfest, A Celebration of Contemporary Indigenous Thinkers, Makers and Musicians. The Event was held in the Atrium of the University’s Building at One Market Street in September.

“The University has contributed to the Great Deal to the Rejuvenation of the Downtown,” Davis Said. “Just think about what the downtown would be like if didn’t have Laurier for the last 25 years.

“It has give in downtown vitality and we’ve been able to work with Laurier on a number of projects to help the community.”

Davis Said Laurier Brantford is a tremendous asset to the community.

The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of forever golden, a wall that commemorates the 25th anniversary of the campus.

A collaborative effort, the wall was pained by 186 volunteers from the campus and the community.

The Artwork was designed by artist Stephanie scoot with input from Friends of the University, Staff, Faculty and Alumni.

The Mural Includes The Carnegie Building, The Flora and Fauna of the Campus’s indigenous Medicine Garden, and Purple, Gold and White Stripes that Evoke the Hoods Worn by Graduates at Convocation. It was Made possible with support from the Students’ Union, Wlu Alumni Association and Samuel W. Stedman Foundation.
