EA does not intend to repeat the mistakes of Battlefield 2042 and is already recruiting for the development of the single-player campaign for the future part of the franchise. Battlefield 7 is already in development.
Lack of a single-player campaign, limited content, hazardous gameplay, balancing and map design in the socks… The list of Battlefield 2042 problems is long. After the disaster that was the release of the latest addition to its beloved FPS franchise, EA intends to change direction and not repeat the same mistakes. Those who caused the heavy failure of the one who was to bring shooters to the next-gen era. While DICE maintains the facade smiles, ensuring that its teams remain fully dedicated to developing and improving the Battlefield 2042 experience, it would seem that in reality the title has been buried, delivered to a reduced team condemned to collect the pieces of a bitter failure. For the rest of the studio, all eyes are on the future, and on the next Battlefield title which, according to some verified insiders, is already well under development. And for this “Battlefield 7” as we choose to call it, EA intends to offer an “incredible” single-player campaign.
A single-player campaign in Battlefield 7?
In any case, this is one of the first major pieces of information that we have been able to receive on the game. EA has indeed created a brand new studio in Seattle dedicated to the development of the single player mode of the future Battlefield, and has placed its head none other than the respected Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo franchise when he was still working at Bungie. And it turns out that this studio, soberly named Battlefield Seattle Studio, is in the midst of a recruitment phase. But he is a Job offer which has not escaped the attention of some Internet users; that of Director of Design. The following job description can be found there:
“You will manage the design team and create a vision for a new Battlefield campaign. Your job will be to orchestrate the creation of missions, narrative universes, game mechanics and systems in order to create the highest quality experience possible. […] Your job will be to assimilate and adopt the fundamental principles of the Battlefield franchise and ensure that they are integrated at all levels into a perfectly constructed single-player campaign.“
Good news for fans, who greatly lamented the loss of a single player mode in Battlefield 2042, especially seeing what the narrative experience had been sacrificed for. Aside from this information, the development of Battlefield’s next title remains a closely guarded secret, with EA and DICE needing to assure players (and shareholders) that Battlefield 2042 is not yet dead and buried.
