Battery manufacturer Northvolt is applying for bankruptcy

Northvolt has received significantly better spins on the production in the Skellefteå factory. This is stated by one of the owners, the first AP Fund’s manager Kristin Magnusson Bernard.

Battery manufacturer Northvolt works towards the clock. The money is almost end, a reconstruction process is ongoing, and absolutely crucial for some owners, old or new, to postpone more capital is if the problematic production goes better. The number of batteries that left the factory has so far been too low.

Can create external interest

The first AP Fund, which together with the other state pension funds AP2, AP3 and AP4 has invested SEK 5.8 billion, risks everything invested in capital.

– What we do now is of course to work close to the company to recreate as much value as we can on our investment. And there we see, for example, that the underlying business, production in Skellefteå for example, is fast in the right direction. And of course it can create external interest. Because it is always in a business when things go in the right direction, so there is another interest possibly, says first AP Fund’s CEO Kristin Magnusson Bernard.
