Batman: Arkham Shadows Release Date

The first official gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Shadow was shown at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show, and it looks better than expected.

Batman: Arkham Shadow is set in the timeline between Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum, so don’t expect it to be a retread of the disastrous extension of the Suicide Squad series that Justice League: Killing Them tried to be.

Batman: Arkham Shadows Release Date Announced as October

Roger Craig Smith, who voiced the younger version of the Dark Knight in Arkham Origins, returns to portray Batman, while the late Kevin Conroy voiced the older version.

In terms of villains, Batman will face off against the Ratcatcher and his cult of minions, but the trailer also gave us a glimpse of a few others, including Harleen Quinzel before she transforms into Harley Quinn.

Gameplay looks to be everything you’d expect from a Batman: Arkham game, with combat, hunter encounters and detective mode all factored in, but this time it’s shown through the lenses of your VR headset.

It looks amazing, and while we’ll reserve full judgment until we get our hands on the game, we can’t deny that it doesn’t look like the most immersive Batman experience yet.
