After Canada’s victory over Slovenia in the last quarter-final, the posters for the semi-finals are now known.
Despite the elimination of the Blues in the first round and then of reigning world champion Spain in the second round, the Basketball World Cup continues and we now know the semi-finalists. Germany qualified by beating the surprising Latvians with difficulty (81-79), close to a new feat after their victories over the Blues and Roja. The Mannschaft will face, for its first world semi-final since 2002, the United States, which crushed Italy in their quarter-final (100-63).
Serbia stifled Lithuania (87-68), yet victorious against the United States in the second group stage. The champion’s compatriots NBA and MVP of the finals Nikola Jokic, absent from this World Cup, will play against Canada, scorer of Slovenia (100-89) in a close match where they will have been able to make the difference in the third quarter (30-21) with an excellent Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (31 points and 10 rebounds). The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, September 8.
