The Swedish national team started well in the opening minutes of the match, but Montenegro immediately took over and had a small lead, 27-24, after the first period.
In others it flowed away. When Tobias Borg lost the ball and Marko Simonovic scored 50-35, SVT’s expert Nick Rajacic noted:
– It is frivolous basketball from Sweden right now who are really losing their grip on this match.
In the end, 13 points separated at halftime, 50-37 to the home team.
– Montenegro owns this match and Sweden has big problems in the offensive, said Rajacic.
“Give Njie more minutes”
The problems also continued in the second half and Montenegro was able to see the numbers further.
In-form Barra Njie impressive at times, for example when he drove the ball all over the court and made it 52-64.
– Give this man more minutes! When he is on the field, positive things happen. He is fearless and aggressive. He is the one who controls that Sweden comes back, says Rajacic.
However, Sweden never came really close, but in the end it was a loss by 25 points.
– Sweden can and must play better than this, says Nick Rajacic, who failed all players in Sweden except for Barra Njie and Viktor Gaddefors.
Last Thursday, Sweden started the European Championship qualifiers with a victory at home against Bulgaria.
