There was a gold on the women’s side for Södertälje last season.
But the festivities did not last long.
Last year, the association showed a result of minus 833,000 kroner – and this year the figures have worsened considerably. The fact is that, according to the annual report, we are going back a little over SEK 5.8 million.
– There are many explanations. The sporting ambitions have been high and perhaps greater than we could afford. It has dragged away with the player budget. After all, we live in a time with cost increases everywhere, and we are no exception, says chairman Helena Lindström, who took up the position last year, to SVT Sport.
– They wanted to attract an audience and create funding by having a good product. Basketball is not the sport, compared to others, with the most money, but there has been an ambition to bring in more money based on the names we have had.

How worried are you about losing the elite license?
– Right now I’m not worried. I have a very strong belief that we will figure this out.
What does the strategy look like going forward?
– We are very lucky. We own a hall together with the municipality. There (in the company) is money that we will be able to use, it is not intended to be used that way, but that is how it will be, says Lindström.
Three years ago, SBBK sold building rights near Täljehallen. A business, which gave an income of 20 million, according to LT.
