Basketball: NBA star Pelle Larsson’s joy after the European success: “A great honor”

During Sunday, Sweden became ready for the Basketball European Championship for the first time since 2013.

NBA star Pelle Larsson, who plays in the NBA team Miami Heat, followed the drama and looks forward to helping Sweden in the championship-if he is released by the club team.

– It had meant a lot. I was a little guy when I watched the TV so it would be cool to help and of course huge. I have longed, Larsson tells SVT Sport.

According to national team manager Lars Johansson is positive about the opportunity to have Larsson, but there is a roof on how many days the clubs in the NBA release their players.

– There is a limitation and you do not want to end up in a position where you use too many preparation days and you cannot complete the tournament. We have to go through that carefully, says Lars Johansson, who, however, believes in a solution:

– I see no obstacles or limitations, I rather look positively at this, definitely.

Larsson: “A great honor”

Pelle Larsson is positive that Miami Heat will allow him to play the European Championships.

– Playing in the national team is a great honor, but it’s long. There are several decisions within the club that must be made, he says.

According to Larsson’s agent, Olle Håkanson, Miami Heat is open to release the 23-year-old.

– Miami Heat looks very positive that he will be involved in playing the European Championships, says Håkanson.

The European Championships will be played between August 27 and September 14 in Poland, Finland, Latvia and. SVT broadcasts the championship.
