Toni Kohonen will be in KPL’s strength already on Saturday.
A baseball legend who ended his playing career last season Toni Kohonen has decided to make a return to the playing fields.
The first team Kouvolan Pallonlyöjät announced on Friday on their website that they have signed a comprehensive player contract for the rest of the season with 47-year-old Kohonen. Kohonen will be in the team’s strength already on Saturday, when KPL meets Kankaanpää Maila.
Kohonen has previously represented the KPL Superpesis team in his career. He has won four SM silver medals in the shirt of the Kouvola team.
Kohonen was supposed to work as Manse PP’s game manager this season. However, the Tampere baseball club decided to fire Kohonen before the start of the season. He was replaced Jani Komulainen.
Koho, who won ten Finnish championships in his career, is generally considered the best baseball player of all time. During his playing career, in addition to KPL, he has represented Kiteen Pallo, Oulun Lippo, Sotkamo Jymy and Imatra Pallo-Veikko.
