Barnier government already in the hot seat? Marine Le Pen calls for a new dissolution

Barnier government already in the hot seat Marine Le Pen

On the occasion of the parliamentary days of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen considered that the current political situation “cannot hold”. She called “for [s]”his wishes” for new legislative elections.

The Barnier government should be (finally) announced “next week”. In any case, this is what the Prime Minister has promised in recent days, as he must deal with a particularly complicated political situation. A point that Marine Le Pen did not fail to recall on the occasion of the parliamentary days of the National Rally deputies, this Saturday, September 14, 2024. “No Prime Minister would suit us except Jordan Bardella”, declared, bluntly, the boss of the RN deputies, for whom “Macronie is the incarnation of disorder, the Nupes [NFP ndlr.] is worse, she embodies chaos.”

Nine days after Michel Barnier’s appointment to Matignon, and while the National Rally positioned itself as THE monitor of the proper respect of democracy, ready to act in the event of a misstep by the new Prime Minister, Marine Le Pen appeared a bit more threatening this Saturday. While Jordan Bardella had just asked his troops to embody a “constructive” and “influential” opposition, the former RN candidate in the last presidential elections did not hide her desire to put an end to the Barnier government.

“There will be new legislative elections at the end of these 10 months”

“This is a mandate that I personally want to be as short as possible. I think it cannot last,” declared Marine Le Pen, pointing out that “our great country that is France cannot function like this, cannot be led by a political force that won 5%,” in reference to the score of the Republicans, from which the new Prime Minister comes, during the last legislative elections. And to clearly announce the color: “I am convinced that there will be new legislative elections at the end of these 10 months, and I call for them.” A statement that however goes against the comments made by Emmanuel Macron. While the president cannot dissolve the Assembly “in the year following” the last legislative elections, the head of state had assured that he did not want to repeat the experience before the end of his term.
