09:12 – “It’s crazy!” At midnight, the small candidates are offended by the end of their debate
After a first debate between the eight best-known heads of the list, France 2 hosted a second set last night with eight candidates from “small lists”. But this one was significantly shorter than the first: at midnight, the heads of the list were invited to conclude, even though all the planned subjects had not yet been discussed. Many expressed their annoyance: “Is this the end of the show?” Repeated Florian Philippot (Les Patriotes), incredulous, before blurting: “It’s crazy”.
“So we don’t have the 12 minutes?” A Grincé Nathalie Arthaud (Workers’ Struggle). “Aren’t we talking about Gaza?” Pierre Larrouturou (Change Europe) was surprised. “Well done, very good show!” Said Jean Lassalle (Rural Alliance) ironically, applauding the journalist.
09:01 – “Farmers, I have a message for you”: Jordan Bardella targets the rural world in an email
Farmers received a message in their mailbox signed by the National Rally candidate, Jordan Bardella. “Farmers, I have a message for you”, we can read there, followed by some RN measures favorable to the rural world. “How did they get our emails?” Asks a farmer to France 3. The same one gets annoyed: “We are bombarded with emails. We have other things to do on our farms. It’s completely abnormal.”
Especially since a few errors seem to have crept into the mailing list: the brother of a farmer also received the message and said he was “shocked” to have been targeted.
This type of practice is actually not new: companies offer their services to political parties to send messages to targeted populations. During the last European elections, 2,744,000 euros were spent by seven parties in this type of operation, according to France 3.
