In the Spanish football series, the top team Barcelona experienced a 0-1 shock defeat in La Liga after a modest performance.
Barcelona suffered a surprising 0-1 away loss to Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday, which ended the big club’s seven-game winning streak, taking into account all competitions.
– It wasn’t our day. The result has to be accepted because the opponent played well. There is no room for explanations here, we didn’t create enough chances, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick chatted.
Sheraldo Becker scored the decisive goal for the Basque team in the 33rd minute of the first half. The home team Real Sociedad dominated the game and missed several chances. It took the shots on goal 6–0 and the expected goal 1.85–0.64.
The loss was the first for league leader Barcelona in over a month and only the second in the Spanish premier league. The guests’ 17-year-old teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was sidelined with a serious right ankle sprain.
Coach Flick admitted that Barcelona missed Yamali.
– I don’t know if he will be able to return to the field even after the international break. The club has asked him to stay out of international matches, said Flick.
Barcelona leads the series with 33 points. Six points away is Real Madrid, who have played less matches. Real Sociedad rose to eighth place and 18 points in the series.
