86-year-old Barbro was sprayed with a brown spray before the pickpocket struck.

Without a word he wiped her blouse and snapped off the gold necklace.

It was a quarter to two on Friday afternoon when 86-year-old Barbro was on her way to the store in Malmö to buy milk.

During the walk, she felt a liquid being sprayed into her neck, something South Sweden was the first to report on.

– I turned around and saw a man’s head. He started waving a paper handkerchief and I looked down at his back, which was completely brown-spotted, says Barbro.

The liquid on the blouse is described as a foul-smelling slurry.

– It was completely dark brown, like toddler poo. It smelled strongly like some barbecue oil and was very, very disgusting, she says.

fullscreen At first Barbro thought that the man who wiped her off had no ulterior motive. “I felt so stupid,” she says. Photo: KRISTER HANSON

The man then allegedly began to wipe her shoulders without saying a word.

– I went to throw away the tissue after he had dried as much as possible. Then he just left, she says.

Barbro herself had no idea that she had been the victim of a crime until she was going to wash the dirty clothes and ran into an acquaintance who thought she should report the incident to the police.

– I felt so stupid, I just thought “how kind that he helped me wipe it off”. I had my bag and everything was fine when I went home.

But later in the evening she discovered that the gold necklace she had received as a 50th birthday present was gone.

– He had snapped it. It is so rude that you can do that to the elderly, she says.

She says she is glad she was not physically harmed in the theft and thanks her family for their support after the incident.

– I have my child and my brother who support me and ask how I am. I feel fine, but I have this in the back of my mind all the time, says Barbro
