Banksy’s work stolen. It happened in south-east London, in Peckham, this Friday morning. Two men were arrested this weekend. A Stop sign, flanked by three aircraft. Combat drones. In a street where there is a funeral home…

Banksy’s new work was authenticated on the morning of Friday December 22. Barely an hour later, two men snatched it. One of them, perched on a bicycle, equipped with cutting pliers, managed to escape with it.

Under the stunned gaze of passers-by… they filmed, took photos… Plus surveillance cameras… The police did not take long to find them.

The youngest, in his twenties, was arrested the day before yesterday, then released on bail pending further investigation.

The second, in his forties, arrested this Sunday, December 24, remains in detention.

In the meantime, a new stop sign has been installed to secure the roadway, the police communicated.

Banksy’s work is worth millions of euros. The red panel could cost more than 500,000, according to a gallery owner. The media attention has just made it even more valuable.
