Bank for International Settlements Pablo Hernandez de Cos new DG

(Finance) – The Board of Directors of Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced the appointment of Pablo Hernández de Cos as next General director. His appointment will take effect from 1 July 2025 and will have a term of five years.

Hernández de Cos was previously Governor of the Bank of Spaina position he held from 2018 to June 2024. He will take over from the Mexican Agustín Carstens, whose mandate will end at the end of June 2025.

The BIS (in English Bank for International Settlements, BIS) is a Basel-based organization that promotes cooperation in monetary and financial matters and serves as a bank and forum for central banks.
