– It was a great first half then we resist and are sickly strong, says Joel Broberg that the fans are struggling and shrugs in from all directions in chaotic scenes on the ice.
– I should be in there with the fans but I can cope, was fainting and had to take me out. It is a fantastic match in every way. I don’t know how many are scratchy but we fight and shit in it. It’s really strong, says Petter Björling.
With a few minutes left of the extra time, the gold helmets went forward and a large celebration with the fans on the ice erupted.
“Seems to be a villa god”
-It feels a bit unreal considering the last week we had, but somewhere there seems to be a villa god, says coach Pelle Fosshaug, who brought an SM gold with him during his first year.
Star duo Felix Person and Erik Säfström were suspended and as late as Thursday, five players were embedded with illnesses. Two of them did not even accompany the bus to the player hotel in Örebro on Friday. It was with great uncertainty that Villa took on the final.
A focused villa dispersed all the doubts and decided the final already in the first half where they went to a break with 5-0-the first time a team led with five goals in the break in the band finale’s history which goes back to 1907.
The most shone the 38-year-old shooting king Christoffer Edlund who scored four goals at Rocklunda in Västerås, where the final was played for the second year in a row.
– It’s fun to be here and lira final. After all, there are not so many times left for each passing year, so you have to take the opportunity to enjoy. I have never been so tired in my entire life, says Edlund, who won his first final against Edsbyn, to SVT Sport.
At extra time, Edlund finished 7-2.
Villa only played by the second half and Edsbyn reduced twice but had to score some goals to create nerve.
The SM gold was Villas fourth on the men’s side.
