Bandy player from Vetlanda caught for doping – took asthma medicine

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The player has been taking the asthma medication since 2019 and has previously been tested for doping without the medication causing problems. The doctors who prescribed the medicine admit that they missed that using Bricanyl requires a dispensation.

The player was taken out for testing on December 13, 2022 and then stated that he was using the medication. Only then did he find out about the exemption requirement and applied the next day for an exemption, which was later granted.

The decision must be appealed

– We really regret what happened, and over the past year we have worked hard with education and information about the importance of not taking food supplements and checking your medications. That it still happens is human and we have to wait and see what future decisions will be, and continue our important work, says Karin Torneklint, sports manager at the Swedish Bandy Federation.

The decision will be appealed as the player believes that the punishment is too harsh.
