In total, there are 98 different letter combinations such as The Swedish Transport Agency has actively chosen not to distribute as a registration number.

Sweetening numbers are prohibited
The reasons why a certain letter combination is banned are often that it can be considered offensive or inappropriate.
For example, words that can be an unflattering way of describing a person are prohibited, for example STUPID, UGLY, COWARD, FAT, KUF and EVIL. Also combinations that allude to the body and its functions, for example ASS, FES, KUK, LEM, and RAP.
Neither are combinations that allude to controversial organizations, people or political leanings approved. Examples of this are the combinations KGB, KKK, MAO, PKK and NAZ.

Combinations prohibited for practical reasons
However, not all prohibited letter combinations are justified by being offensive or provocative. Instead, practical reasons may lie behind the ban.
An example is the letter combination MLB, which is reserved for film and advertising purposes. It is therefore common to see, for example, the combination MLB in advertising for new cars.
Other practical reasons for banning combinations may be that they can easily be confused with numbers. For that reason, the combinations ONE, THREE, FIVE, SIX, and SEVEN are prohibited.
You also cannot have the combination NIO, but that is because the letter “I” is not used in registration numbers.
